Below are listed several links to other web pages. They are broken up into two main categories - genealogy and graveyard. The genealogy links are those based on site where you can gather information concerning your family heritage or show how to do genealogy research. The graveyard
links will be composed of sites concerning everything from graveyard research
to conducting cemetery surveys. Some may contain information concerning
law or statues within your state on the protection of headstones or tips

GeneaLinks allows for searching of genealogy marriage records from all states. Interment.net is a great site for text-based cemetery listing from all states. Search engines allow for searching surnames accross the entire country or by indiviual states and graveyards. Ancestry Hunt is one place to look for family Bible entries. Great place to post your own family Bible text and maybe to link with others in your family. RootWeb is an extremely large site with extensive information concerning genealogy. This link is to their cemetery page with information of how you can get invilved with tombstone recordation and preservation within your own community. Ancestry.com is the big dog on the block...no doubt. They have a massive database of census, marriage, death and birth records for not only the US by countries world-wide. Very interesting place to lose several hours in!! |
The Association for Gravestone Studies is a great website showing the national concern for the care and restoration of gravestones. Under the Preservation tab there are instructions on how to create a new base stone along with instructions on what not to use such as shaving cream to make a headstone more readable. North Carolina Office of State Archaeology shows the laws and statutes that apply to cemeteries here in North Carolina. The Cemetery Club is an online magazine with many interesting links about every aspect of tombstones. There is also a link to epitaph magazine. City of the Silent is a cool place giving the history behind burial rites. Just an interesting place to visit!
