One of the fun uses of our database is to post the latitude and longitude of a grave to GoogleEarth maps. There are several ways to do this, but which ever way you use it is an interseting way to record and store the position of those graves you have located.

One way to add a grave to Google Earth would be to use the Placemark tool. In Google Earth go to Add>Placemark which opens the placemark dialog. Copy the entire lat/long from your search into the proper fields on this dialog. Be sure and paste over the entire lat/long including the N and W abbrevations.

Once you see the placemark on the globe you can zoom into it to see the location of the grave. When you have it zoomed in, right click on the placemark and go to Properties. Under the View tab click on the "Sanpshot Current View" button to save this view to the placemark. Everytime that you come into Google Earth from now on you are able to double click on the placemark and it will zoom you back to this view.

With this information in Google Earth, you can also right click on the placemark and get directions from any point to the gravesite. With this information you can always get to the cemetery, but how to get to the actual grave? Just load the lat/long into any type GPS receiver and it will navigate you to with a few feet of the actual grave itself.
